SOUTHAMPTON MAN ADMITS PAYING TO SEXUALLY ABUSE TEEN GIRL
A man has admitted paying to sexually abuse a teenage girl in Southampton.
Cristian Tataru, of Brintons Road, appeared at Southampton Crown Court on Friday, February 13.
There, he admitted to a charge of paying for the sexual services of a girl aged 15 between June 1, 2022 and August 31, 2022, in Southampton.
The charge states he obtained the sexual services of the 15-year-old girl, not believing she was aged 18 or over.
He had previously made a payment to another person for those services, it stated.
The 31-year-old had also been charged with rape of a girl aged 15 in the same time frame, but the prosecution offered no evidence for this charge, and it was dropped.
The case had last been heard in September 2025, when Tataru had denied both charges, and a trial had been scheduled for February 23 of this year.
Instead, Tataru will be sentenced at Southampton Crown Court on February 23.
