STEPHEN COOPER FROM SOUTHAMPTON SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS FOR HORRIFIC ABUSE IN BASINGSTOKE
A deeply disturbed individual, Stephen Cooper, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 16 years after being found guilty of heinous sexual offenses involving a young girl.Cooper, aged 61 and residing at The Drove, Blackfield, was convicted of a series of disturbing crimes that caused immense suffering to his young victim.
According to court records, the abuse took place over a two-year period, from March 2021 to March 2023, in Basingstoke.
The victim was a girl aged between four and six years old during the time of the abuse.
The crimes committed by Cooper included four counts of engaging in non-penetrative sexual activities with a girl under the age of 13, sexual assault of a girl under 13 by penetration, engaging in sexual activities in the presence of a child under 13, and inciting or causing a girl under 13 to participate in sexual acts.
Despite Cooper’s denial of the allegations, the evidence presented during the trial was compelling enough to secure a conviction.
The trial was held at Winchester Crown Court, where the jury found him guilty of all charges.
Following the verdict, Cooper was sentenced at Salisbury Crown Court, where the judge handed down a 16-year prison sentence, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the impact on the young victim.
Throughout the proceedings, the court emphasized the gravity of the offenses and the need for justice to be served for the young girl who endured such trauma.
Cooper’s actions have been described as utterly reprehensible, and his lengthy incarceration aims to protect the community and prevent him from causing further harm.
