SOHAIB ASLAM SENTENCED TO THREE YEARS IN PRISON FOR ATTEMPTED CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION IN SLUGH, WINDSOR
A man from Slough, identified as Sohaib Aslam, has been convictively sentenced to three years behind bars after attempting to arrange a sexual encounter with a child, an effort that was thwarted by police intervention. The incident took place on January 13 at Brighton Crown Court, where Aslam, 50 years old and residing on Ditton Park Road, was found guilty by a unanimous jury verdict. The criminal activity dates back to November 4, 2021, when Aslam actively searched an online platform dedicated to adult services. During his online browsing, he came across an advertisement that purported to offer a child for sexual exploitation—a lurid and illegal solicitation. Aslam responded to the message associated with the ad and subsequently arranged to meet the supposed child at a location in Windsor. He agreed to pay £100 for the intended sexual act, believing he was about to carry out an illicit encounter with a minor.
Unbeknownst to Aslam, the individual he was communicating with was an undercover operative from the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit. As he was making his way to the designated meeting point, law enforcement officers intercepted him. He was arrested on the spot, and during the arrest, police found the £100 he intended to use as payment for the act.
Police officials clarified that no actual child was present during the operation, and at no point was a real child at risk. They provided screenshots of Aslam’s online communications, which revealed his interactions with an individual he believed was facilitating the meeting with a minor. These exchanges demonstrated his intent and willingness to engage in a severe violation of child safety.
Following the conviction, the court handed down a sentence of three years imprisonment, along with a decade-long Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Aslam was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register, reinforcing the state's commitment to monitoring and rehabilitating offenders.
Detective Constable Colin Haynes of SEROCU expressed a stern warning to those contemplating similar actions. He emphasized, “This should serve as a warning to anyone looking to arrange this sort of meeting. You can never be sure of who you are actually messaging.
If you engage in this sort of conversation online and seek to arrange meetings of this nature, you could be arrested and face time in prison, which will have a destructive impact on your life and career, as well as having a huge effect on your family.
We will not tolerate those who look to exploit children for sexual purposes and will do everything we can to disrupt them.”
