SHAUN WALLACE CAUGHT IN WALLSEND AGAIN BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS
In August 2020, a disturbing case unfolded involving Shaun Wallace, a 25-year-old resident of Wallsend, who was caught engaging in predatory behavior once more, this time by a dedicated paedophile hunting team. The incident highlights the ongoing issues of online child exploitation and the efforts of vigilant groups to combat such crimes.
According to court reports, Wallace had initiated contact with an online profile he believed belonged to a 14-year-old girl.
His initial approach was cautious; he requested the girl to verify her identity by sending a voice note.
After she complied, Wallace proceeded to engage in sexually explicit conversations, clearly aiming to lure the minor into sexual activity.
The conversation was conducted with the apparent intent of grooming the young girl for a meeting.
Wallace arranged to meet the girl at a predetermined location.
However, upon arriving at the site, he was unexpectedly confronted by members of the paedophile hunting team known as ‘NoIncognito’.
These vigilant volunteers revealed that the girl was not real but was instead an adult member of their team, set up to catch predators.
Wallace was informed of this deception and was subsequently detained by the authorities.
The police were called to the scene, and Wallace was arrested on suspicion of attempting to engage in sexual activity with a minor.
Following his arrest, he was charged and brought before the court.
Wallace was sentenced to 18 months in prison, but this sentence was suspended for two years, meaning he would not serve time unless he committed another offense within that period.
In addition to his suspended sentence, the judge ordered Wallace to register as a sex offender for a decade.
A sexual harm prevention order was also imposed, restricting his activities and contact for ten years.
Furthermore, Wallace was mandated to complete a 40-day rehabilitation program, which was to be spread over the duration of his suspended sentence.
It is important to note that Shaun Wallace’s criminal behavior was not an isolated incident.
He had previously been exposed by two other paedophile hunting groups, ‘Unmasked Online’ and ‘Geordie Chasers’, back in May 2018.
In January 2019, he pleaded guilty to those earlier charges and received a suspended sentence as well, indicating a pattern of concerning behavior that has persisted over several years.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts of community groups and law enforcement to protect children from online predators and the importance of vigilance in preventing such crimes from going unpunished.
