SHANE WALKER FROM OLDMHAM AVOIDS PRISON AFTER ONLINE GROOMING CASE IN MANCHESTER

In September 2018, Shane Walker of Oldham appeared at Manchester Crown Court to face charges related to online grooming. Walker pleaded guilty to multiple sexual offences connected to his attempt to engage with a girl he believed was 13 years old.

The court was informed that Walker created a fake online profile under an alias and contacted what he thought was a 13-year-old girl. He engaged in highly sexualized conversations and made threats, including one where he said he would put a gun to her head.

Walker also threatened to carry out rape and murder if she did not send him explicit images of herself. It was later revealed that the girl Walker communicated with was not real, but a decoy operated by the paedophile hunting team known as 'Dark Light.'

The court sentenced Walker to a three-year community order. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for five years and was issued a five-year sexual harm prevention order.
