SOUTHAMPTON MAN ADMITS POSSESSING EXTREME INDECENT IMAGES, INCLUDING OF CHILDREN
A 23-year-old man from Southampton, Shane Johnson, has admitted to possessing extreme pornographic images including indecent images of children. He appeared at Southampton Magistrates' Court on June 3 facing five charges. The charges include making five category A – the most serious – moving indecent images of a child, and possessing 17 category B images of a child, with two being moving images and 15 still images. Additionally, he faces accusations of possessing three extreme pornographic images and three prohibited images of a child. Johnson was also charged with making 89 category C indecent images of children. These offences occurred on August 26, 2023, in Southampton. Johnson pleaded guilty to all charges. He is scheduled to appear before Southampton Crown Court on June 30. The maximum sentence for possession of category A images is three years’ custody, for category B images is 18 months, and for category C images is 26 weeks.
