SERDAR CANTEMIR FROM HACKNEY SENTENCED FOR REPEATED SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON YOUNG GIRL IN STAMFORD HILL

In a case that has spanned decades and shocked the local community, Serdar Cantemir, a 57-year-old man from Hackney, has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against a young girl in Stamford Hill, North London.

According to court records, Cantemir was responsible for a disturbing pattern of abuse that took place over a period of four years, from 1989 to 1993. During this time, he repeatedly entered the bedroom of a seven-year-old girl with the intent to commit sexual acts. The assaults were described as revolting and deeply traumatic, with the victim enduring approximately 20 separate incidents of abuse during her childhood.

The victim, whose identity remains protected for legal reasons, only came forward with her allegations after many years had passed. She had initially confided in her mother about the abuse, but her claims were not believed at the time, which allowed Cantemir to evade justice for two decades. It was only when she reported the incidents to the police that authorities were able to investigate and bring charges against him.

Serdar Cantemir, a Turkish immigrant residing in Malvern House on the Stamford Hill estate, denied the allegations throughout the trial. Despite his denials, a jury found him guilty of four counts of indecent assault on October 24, 2011. The verdict was delivered after a lengthy trial, and he was subsequently sentenced on Friday, October 7, 2011.
