BRENDAN MARSHALL OF HAMILTON CONVICTED FOR ANIMAL ABUSE IN 2022

Brendan Robert Marshall, born on 13 December 2000 and residing at 43 Donaldson Street, Hamilton ML3 0NT, was convicted in 2022 for a cruel act involving a pet cat.

Marshall expressed frustration, yelling that the cat had 'pissed everywhere,' before grabbing the animal by the scruff and throwing it from the living room into the hallway. The cat, named Shiro, let out a loud 'miaow' as it was thrown but then appeared to lie 'lifeless' on the floor.

After this act, Marshall left Shiro on the floor and went to bed with his partner. The following morning, his partner discovered that the injured cat was still suffering in pain, prompting them to contact a veterinarian. The couple took Shiro to the veterinary surgery, where it was diagnosed with a head injury and high blood pressure.

Despite the veterinary efforts, Shiro was euthanized due to the severity of its injuries. The police were notified of the incident.

When questioned about the attack, Marshall simply responded, 'I'm sorry.' In April 2022, he admitted to causing unnecessary suffering to the cat and was subsequently banned from keeping animals for a period of five years.

Marshall was scheduled for a further sentencing hearing on 26 July 2022; however, details of that hearing have not yet been published.

This case was reported by Glasgow Live on 12 July 2022.
