SCOTT MUCKLOW FROM CAMBER, EAST SUSSEX, SENTENCED FOR RAPE IN BRIGHTON
A resident of Camber in East Sussex, 29-year-old Scott Mucklow of Denham Way, has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of raping two teenage girls. The sentencing took place at Brighton Crown Court on Thursday, February 14, and Mucklow will be registered as a sex offender for life.
Sussex police led an investigation that resulted in a 13-year prison sentence for Mucklow.
Mucklow was previously convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl at his residence.
In addition, he was convicted of three counts of rape involving another girl aged between 16 and 17.
One of these incidents occurred at a nearby address in Lydd, Kent, while the other two took place at his own home.
Although Sussex police confirmed he was found not guilty of coercive and controlling conduct concerning the second victim, the other charges stood.
Detective Constable Paul Harrison of the East Sussex Safeguarding Investigations Unit explained: “Mucklow had seen his first victim in the street near his home, and although several years older than her, he eventually persuaded her to go to his house, where he raped her.
She felt unable to report this until 2017.” He added, “He later formed a relationship with his second victim and raped her multiple times.
However, she learned of the first victim’s allegations as we interviewed Mucklow about it.
Initially supportive of him, once she escaped that relationship and reflected on her experience, she contacted us.” Detective Harrison emphasized the importance of victim support and investigation: “We were then able to fully investigate the offences against both girls and bring him to justice, with their support, which included giving evidence in court.” The police highlighted that Mucklow was a predator who exploited these young girls.
The sentencing demonstrates the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to successfully prosecute such offenders and support victims throughout the process.
