MAX WRIGHT AND SHOCKING SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN EAST SUSSEX

A man named Max Wright, aged 27 and formerly residing on Amherst Road in Bexhill, has been sentenced to seven years in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting five women in public spaces across East Sussex.

The series of disturbing incidents took place over a span of several months, beginning in November 2022 and culminating in June 2023.

Wright was charged with five counts of sexual assault, each linked to separate encounters involving different victims.

The first reported incident occurred on the night of November 19, 2022.

A woman walking alone from Bexhill Railway Station was approached by a man who identified himself as Maximiliano.

He then proceeded to grab her and sexually assault her.

In an effort to de-escalate the situation, the woman engaged him in conversation, which temporarily distracted him, allowing her to run away from the scene.

The following day, authorities launched an extensive investigation that included analyzing CCTV footage and conducting house-to-house inquiries in the area.

Despite these efforts, investigators were unable to identify a suspect at that time.

The next series of assaults happened overnight between April 15 and April 16, 2023.

Three women walking from Cooden Railway Station were repeatedly sexually assaulted by a man who also threatened to rape them.

The victims reported the incidents on April 16, prompting immediate response from the Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Officers visited the scene, carried out inquiries, and quickly identified a suspect.

Max Wright was arrested the following day, linking him to both the November incident and the April assaults.

He was released on conditional bail while further investigations continued.

The final assault occurred in the early hours of June 24, 2023.

A woman walking in Bexhill was sexually assaulted by a man who threatened to rape her.

During the attack, she was on the phone with a friend and managed to record brief footage of the assault.

This evidence led to Wright being swiftly identified as the suspect.

He was arrested within hours of the incident and charged with five counts of sexual assault.

Wright pleaded guilty to all charges on July 24 at Hove Crown Court.

Subsequently, on December 1, the court sentenced him to four years in prison, with an additional three years to be served on licence.

The court also imposed restraining orders against each of the victims and mandated that Wright be placed on the Sex Offenders' Register indefinitely, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community in East Sussex.
