Lovett – Wirral Sexual Abuser

August 2016 Rapist who found teen victims on Facebook jailed for 15 years A Wirral man who raped two vulnerable teenage girls after meeting them through Facebook was put behind bars for 15 years today. “Dangerous” Samuel Marriott-Lovett, 22, was convicted of the two rapes and one charge of grooming after a trial at Liverpool Crown Court but still denies the offences. Robert Dudley, prosecuting, told how Marriott-Lovett raped his first victim when she was 16 and “vulnerable”. He raped the second girl, aged just 14, after she had a row with her boyfriend and Marriott-Lovett invited her to his flat. Despite two of his friends being there he took her into his bedroom and raped her even though she had told him she did not want a sexual relationship with him. In an impact statement her mother told how her daughter had been “cuddly, outgoing and bubbly” but her personality has changed since the rape and it has affected the whole family. “She is uncomfortable if people get in her space or touch her. She doesn’t trust anyone and seems to be on constant high alert. A predator has taken away her innocence.” Her mum said that her daughter had been unable to take her GCSE’s as planned and will now not take them until next year. She added: “I forgive him. I think he is a deranged individual but we are not going to allow him to ruin our lives.” Marriot-Lovett was also accused of raping another 14-year-old girl in 2010 but was acquitted of that offence. Sentencing him Judge Robert Trevor-Jones said it was clear that Facebook “seems to be the preferred channel used by you to contact and befriend younger females.” He added: “I consider you represent a danger at his particular time.” The judge pointed out that the sex offender’s denials meant the girls had to go through the ordeal of giving evidence “and be branded a liar.” Marriott-Lovett, of no fixed address, was ordered to sign on the Sex Offenders Register for life and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was made restricting his internet use and being unsupervised with under 18s.
