SAMUEL FIKRU AND UPPER HUDDERSFIELD GROOMING SCANDAL: HORRIFIC SEXUAL ABUSE REVEALED

A disturbing case of child sexual exploitation has culminated in the imprisonment of five men, including Samuel Fikru, for their roles in grooming and abusing vulnerable young girls in Huddersfield. The sentencing took place at Leeds Crown Court, where Judge Geoffrey Marson QC delivered a stern condemnation of their actions, describing the abuse as 'vile and wicked.'

During the hearing, the judge pointed out that none of the convicted men had shown any remorse for their heinous crimes. The convictions followed a thorough police investigation into child sexual exploitation in Huddersfield, which has resulted in the conviction of 27 men to date. The investigation, part of Operation Tendersea, uncovered a disturbing pattern of abuse spanning from 2005 to 2008, involving girls aged between 12 and 16.

One of the most severe sentences was handed to a 32-year-old defendant, who was convicted of five counts of rape. Due to legal restrictions, his identity cannot be disclosed. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison after being found guilty of subjecting a teenage girl to a relentless 'campaign of rape.' Evidence revealed that he repeatedly assaulted her in a Huddersfield park, often using sleeping pills to sedate her during these assaults.

Samuel Fikru, aged 32 and residing on William Street in Huddersfield, was convicted alongside Umar Zaman, aged 31, also of William Street. Both men received prison sentences of eight years after being found guilty of two counts of rape each. The court was informed that Zaman has since absconded and is believed to be in Pakistan, evading justice.

Another 32-year-old man, also convicted of a single count of rape, received an eight-year sentence. Additionally, a 38-year-old man found guilty of attempted rape was sentenced to seven years in prison. Due to legal restrictions, their names are not publicly reported to protect identities.

Judge Marson emphasized that the case involved a significant number of men, predominantly of Asian descent, who were implicated in the grooming and sexual abuse of numerous children. The court heard how these vulnerable girls were manipulated with drugs and alcohol, then passed between different men in Huddersfield, creating a cycle of exploitation. The judge highlighted that the girls believed they were experiencing genuine affection, but this was merely an illusion crafted by their abusers.

A sixth defendant, Banaris Hussain, aged 36 and also of William Street, was convicted of one count of rape and is scheduled for sentencing on the upcoming Monday. The case continues to shed light on the dark underbelly of child exploitation in Huddersfield, revealing the extent of the abuse and the efforts of law enforcement to bring justice to the victims.
