SOUTHAMPTON MAN ARRESTED IN ONLINE CHILD PROTECTION STING
A 26-year-old man from Southampton, identified as Sam J.Phillips, was arrested on 8 November 2025 following a sting operation conducted by the online child protection organisation Red Rose UK.
Phillips engaged in sexually explicit online conversations with what he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.
During these interactions, he is accused of sending indecent images, requesting sexual photos, and teaching the child about sexual acts.
The chats showed clear awareness of the child’s stated age, yet Phillips continued to engage in sexualised communication, at times warning the child not to send “naughty pictures” to others while simultaneously asking for them himself.
Red Rose UK traced Phillips to a local restaurant in Southampton, where he was confronted by the team and subsequently detained under Section 24A of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act until officers arrived.
Police confirmed the man was taken into custody for questioning and faces charges of indecent communication and attempted grooming of a child.
Police investigations into the case are ongoing.
