RYAN WOODS EXPOSES HIMSELF ON LEEDS BUS AFTER RAPE CONVICTION
In February 2021, a disturbing incident occurred involving Ryan Woods, a man with a troubling criminal history, in Leeds.Woods, who resides in Bramley, followed a 17-year-old girl onto a bus in Leeds, where he committed an act of public indecency that has shocked the local community.
According to court reports, Woods had been observed acting suspiciously while the girl was waiting at a bus stop just before 2pm on October 16, 2020.
The girl, who was alone at the time, noticed Woods watching her intently.
As she boarded the bus, Woods followed her onto the upper deck, where he sat directly across from her.
To avoid drawing attention, the girl put on her headphones and attempted to ignore Woods, who was repeatedly trying to get her attention.
It was during this encounter that Woods committed his offense.
The court heard that Woods exposed himself through a hole in his tracksuit bottoms and then proceeded to perform a solo sex act.
The girl, understandably distressed and frightened by the incident, did not reach her intended stop and quickly disembarked from the bus to escape the situation.
Woods, aged 19 and living at Broadlea Gardens, Bramley, later admitted to the charge of exposure.
This act was committed while he was already under the influence of an eight-month suspended prison sentence, which had been imposed following a previous assault conviction in June 2020.
His criminal record is extensive; he was convicted of rape in 2009 when he was still a juvenile, and he has two prior convictions for exposure dating back to 2014.
Following his arrest on October 28, Woods has been held in custody.
He has already served the equivalent of seven months in prison.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Robin Mairs addressed Woods directly, highlighting his concerning criminal history.
The judge remarked, “You are 19, you have a very worrying history.
You were, at a very young age, convicted of rape.” Judge Mairs also noted that Woods had consumed cocaine prior to the incident, which he believed contributed to his behavior.
The judge described the incident as “a shocking and frightening experience for this young woman.” Ultimately, Woods was sentenced to six months in prison, but this sentence was suspended for two years.
As part of his rehabilitation, he is required to complete a sex offender treatment programme and undertake 54 days of rehabilitation activities to address his behavior and prevent future offenses.
