CRAIG HARRIS SENTENCED IN LEEDS FOR SERIOUS SEXUAL AND VIOLENT CRIMES
Craig Harris, a resident of Monkswood Avenue in Leeds, has been handed down a substantial prison sentence of 18 years after being found guilty of a series of grave sexual and violent offenses committed against a woman.The charges against Harris encompass a range of severe crimes, including actual bodily harm, incitement to engage in sexual activity, rape, and sexual assault by penetration.
These allegations paint a disturbing picture of the offenses that Harris was convicted of, highlighting the gravity of his actions.
The sentencing took place at Newcastle Crown Court on Tuesday, September 24, with Harris, who is 54 years old, receiving not only the lengthy prison term but also a lifetime restraining order designed to prevent any future contact with the victim.
Additionally, he was subjected to an extended license period of six years, which means he will be under supervision for a significant time even after serving his prison sentence.
The criminal case originated from an investigation conducted by the Leeds District Safeguarding Unit, which looked into incidents that occurred at an address in Leeds during August 2023.
The investigation was thorough and aimed at ensuring justice for the victim while safeguarding the community from further harm.
Following the conclusion of the case, Detective Constable Emma Robson, who led the inquiry, expressed her gratitude to the victim for having the courage to come forward and report the crimes.
She stated, “I would like to thank the victim for coming forward and reporting Craig Harris’s crimes to the police.
I hope the lengthy sentence he has received will give her some comfort and allow her to move on from her ordeal.
I also hope it encourages other victims of sexual abuse to come forward and report offences to our Safeguarding Units.
All reports will be investigated sensitively and thoroughly by specially trained officers, who will also provide support throughout the investigation.”
