A man from Leeds, Ian Wadsley, 47, was caught in a dramatic confrontation by a vigilante group after attempting to meet a decoy he believed was a 13-year-old girl at a McDonald's in Leeds.

The incident unfolded on May 17 last year, when Wadsley, a delivery driver, engaged in a series of disturbing communications with what he thought was a young girl named Poppy.

These exchanges began on Facebook and later moved to WhatsApp, where Wadsley’s conversations took a sexual turn.

During the chats, Wadsley repeatedly assured Poppy that age was not an issue, provided they loved each other and were happy.
