RYAN EVANS FROM FALKIRK JAILED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD AND ANIMAL ABUSE IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Falkirk, Ryan Evans, aged 26, has been sentenced to 20 months in prison after being found guilty of possessing an extensive collection of extremely disturbing indecent images and videos. The offences, which spanned several years, included over 12,000 illicit images, many of which fell into the most severe categories of illegal material.Authorities apprehended Evans in April 2019 following a police raid on his residence in Falkirk. During the search, officers seized his computer and a hard drive located on his bedside table. The digital evidence uncovered revealed a sickening array of photographs and videos depicting young children and babies being subjected to sexual abuse by adults. Some of these images also showed sexual acts involving animals, highlighting the depravity of the material stored by Evans.
Among the most disturbing content was a video in which a man was seen performing a sexual act in a morgue with a deceased body, a detail that was explicitly brought to light during the proceedings at Falkirk Sheriff Court. During police interviews, Evans admitted to downloading such material approximately twice a month over a period of many years. He attempted to justify his actions by claiming that he derived a 'kick' from accessing illegal images, rather than having a genuine sexual attraction to children. Evans stated, 'The idea that I can be attracted to children is physically abhorrent to me, and I just want to make that clear.'
He pleaded guilty to charges of possessing indecent images of children and extreme indecent videos at his Falkirk home, with the offences occurring between September 2016 and April 17, 2019, the day police executed the raid at around 7:20 am. During the court hearing, Evans expressed that, although his actions were illegal, his focus was not on the content itself but on the illicit nature of acquiring such material. He said, 'It doesn’t justify it or excuse it, but the content was never the focus of it. It was the fact that the act of getting it was illegal, and how that felt, and not the content itself.'
Addressing Evans' justification, Sheriff Derek Hamilton emphasized the gravity of his actions, stating, 'Your justification in a police interview was that these images would exist whether or not you viewed them. But without the demand for obscene images like this, there may well be no supply. For every image of a child, there is a child victim. Your behaviour was quite deliberate.'
As part of his sentence, Evans will be registered as a sex offender for seven years and is prohibited from working with children or vulnerable adults. Throughout the proceedings, he showed no visible emotion as he was handcuffed and led away to the cells, leaving a community shaken by the extent of his crimes.
