GARRY MCDONALD SENTENCED IN EDINBURGH FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES IN FALKIRK AND DENNY
Garry McDonald, aged 42, was formally sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh on Wednesday, 24 November 2021, following his conviction on multiple serious sexual offence charges.The court's decision came after a thorough trial and investigation into allegations that spanned across the Falkirk and Denny areas in 2019.
McDonald, a resident of Falkirk, was found guilty on 22 October 2021 of engaging in heinous sexual assaults against two male victims.
These assaults, which involved significant violations of personal boundaries and consent, were committed during separate incidents in the Falkirk and Denny regions.
The court heard how McDonald systematically deceived his victims, exploiting their trust to carry out these reprehensible acts.
The sentencing resulted in McDonald being handed a prison term of ten years.
Additionally, he has been placed on the Sex Offender’s Register, a measure intended to monitor and manage his conduct following his release from incarceration.
The judge emphasized the gravity of the offences and the importance of safeguarding the community from individuals who commit such crimes.
Detective Inspector Craig Faulds, representing the Forth Valley’s Public Protection Unit, expressed his thoughts on the case, stating, “McDonald systematically deceived his male victims and subjected them to serious sexual assaults, without their consent.
I would like to thank the victims and their families for their assistance during this inquiry.
It is very difficult to speak about these types of crimes and both men have showed immense courage during this investigation.
I hope that McDonald’s sentencing can bring them some solace in that the person responsible for these despicable actions has been held to account and they can now move forward with their lives.” He further reaffirmed the police’s commitment to justice, saying, “This conviction should send out a clear message that Police Scotland is committed to bringing the perpetrators of sexual offences to justice, while providing all the relevant support and assistance to those that require it.”
