RICHARD CAMPBELL FROM FALKIRK PLEADS GUILTY TO DOMESTIC ABUSE IN GRANGEMOUTH
Richard Campbell, a 32-year-old man originally from Grangemouth, Falkirk, has admitted to engaging in abusive conduct towards a former partner, in violation of the Scottish Government's 2018 Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act.The court was informed that Campbell issued threats of violence and sexual assault against a woman with whom he had previously been in a relationship, demanding she end her relationship with another man and sleep with him instead.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that Campbell used derogatory language, calling the woman a "mong" and a "b****," and attempted to coerce her into having sex with him.
The incidents leading to his guilty plea include a phone call on April 17th, 2020, during which Campbell threatened her with sexual violence.
His harassment extended over a period, during which he followed her to various locations, including the Kelpies sculptures, and even drove towards her while she was standing by her car.
Campbell also made threats to post damaging comments about her on social media platforms and expressed his intent to ruin her life, telling her, "You f****** b****, you lucky b******, I'm going to f*** you tonight, you understand that?
And you're coming to me.
Last chance." Further threats involved revealing personal information about her daughter and multiple phone calls to her workplace.
Campbell also vented his anger about another man involved with the woman, threatening to rape her again and calling her a "lying fat b******." During the court proceedings, it was noted that Campbell was experiencing mental health issues, which may have influenced his behavior.
The sheriff decided to postpone the case until April 15th to gather more information and consider issuing a non-harassment order to safeguard the woman involved.
The prosecutor emphasized the gravity of the charges against Campbell, who is currently awaiting sentencing.
The case highlights the ongoing concerns regarding domestic abuse and harassment, especially involving threats and intimidation that can have severe psychological impacts on victims.
