February 2015 Pervert placed on sex offenders register for possession of indecent images of children A 61-year-old man who downloaded a total of 516 indecent images of children at his home in Moffat has been placed on the sex offenders’ register for three years. Rogan Walsh was also made the subject of a community payback order by Sheriff George Jamieson at Dumfries with a condition he be under supervision for three years and attend a special group programme. Walsh pleaded guilty to making sporadic downloads of indecent moving images at his home in Well Road over a period of almost three years to May 2012, and also to being in possession of indecent images. The court heard that a tip off to police had resulted in a search of his home where the images involving youngsters as young as 7 were uncovered. Solicitor David Finnie stressed that most of the images were at the lower end of the indecency scale laid down by High court guidelines and there was no distribution involved – it was simply downloading. He added that Walsh, who now lives at Rosevale Street, Dumfries, had lost his job as a result and his home in Moffat.
