According to court reports, Macleod, aged 56, who served as a police officer for seven years, committed these crimes at his residence in Edinburgh. The allegations include forcing a young girl to simulate the behavior of a dog by making her wear a collar and leash, and then photographing her in this vulnerable state. Witnesses described how Macleod instructed the child to get on all fours, effectively turning her into a canine for his own perverse gratification.

The court was shown images captured on Macleod’s mobile phone, which was seized during a police investigation. These images depicted the young girl in the act of wearing a dog collar and leash, positioned on all fours in his living room. The investigation into Macleod’s phone also uncovered a collection of extreme pornographic images. Among these were graphic depictions of an adult woman engaging in sexual acts with a dog, which were also taken within his Edinburgh home. The police’s cyber analysis revealed a total of eight images involving the child and Macleod, alongside the disturbing adult content. The authorities described these images as “sickening” and confirmed they were stored on his device, further implicating him in the possession of illegal material.

Further evidence was obtained when police executed a search warrant at Macleod’s residence. During the raid, officers discovered the red dog collar and leash that had been used in the abuse. At Edinburgh Sheriff Court, Macleod appeared in custody to face the charges. The court also heard that he possessed indecent images of the child and extreme pornography involving an adult woman and a dog, with the offenses dating back to December 2, 2021, and continuing until his arrest on November 10, 2022.

Sheriff Christopher Dickson ordered Macleod to be remanded in custody and placed on the sex offenders register. The court deferred sentencing to allow for the preparation of reports, which are scheduled to be considered later this month. It was clarified that Macleod was not a serving police officer at the time of the offenses, although he had previously served with the police force in Edinburgh. His background includes service with the RAF police before his employment with Lothian and Borders Police from 1996 to 2003.
