SOUTHAMPTON MAN JAILED FOR REVENGE MURDER OF EX-PARTNER'S MUM
April 2023: Richard Shaw, aged 48, from Southampton, was found guilty of a heinous crime involving his former partner's mother.In November 2022, he launched a violent knife attack on Lorraine Mills, aged 63, at her residence on Mansel Road East.
Shaw inflicted 48 stab wounds during a frenzied assault that shocked the local community.
Court records revealed that Shaw had a history of indecent assault against Ms Mills prior to the attack.
He had also publicly declared violent intentions, promising to 'rip the heart out' of his ex-partner after their relationship ended.
Mrs Mills, known to be a dedicated mother, sister, and grandmother, was tragically killed in the assault.
After the incident, Shaw contacted the police and confessed, eventually pleading guilty to murder during a court appearance in January.
Mrs Justice Cutts described the defendant’s actions as 'callous and selfish' and sentenced him to serve at least 30 years behind bars.
