December 2016 Paedophile avoids prison over indecent photographs and videos of children A Carshalton paedophile who downloaded more than 100 indecent photographs and videos of children has been sentenced. Richard Spencer Gye, 58, from Wynash Gardens, Carshalton, had admitted to two counts of ‘making an indecent photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child’ at South East Surrey Magistrates’ Court in Redhill on November 28. ‘Making’ typically means downloading. One hundred and forty-three indecent photographs of children and nine indecent films of children were found on his Dell laptop when it was seized on September 14. He must participate in 60 sessions of an accredited programme, go to a sexual offenders’ program for 40 days, and carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the community. Gye was also served with a sexual harm prevention order for five years. He was sentenced at the court in Redhill on Monday, December 19.
