December 2010 Ten year jail term for the sexual abuse of young girl A man was jailed for 10 years last friday for sexually abusing a girl over three years Wayne Eaton, 55 of Wynash Gardens Carshalton had admitted 19 charges of oral rape, indecent assaults and sexual activity with a child and possession of indecent images at a previous hearing Prosecuting Paul Calvin siad it came to light when the victim told her mother on January 23rd what had been going on. “She spoke of going on fishing trips involving overnight camping and he would frequently enter her tent on the pretext of having a chat. On several occasions she had woken up to find him in her sleeping bag Mr Calvin added Eaton would walk around naked and spy on the girl When challenged over his behaviour, he tried to suggest she was sexually attracted to him But he later owned up to taking photographs and making movies of the girl Defending Eaton, Oliver Doherty said there was no evidence his client had used violence or made threats of violence against the girl, and the pictures had not been distributed to others It has taken him sometime to acknowledge his culpability, he said And he is extremely motivated to address his sexual problems Sentencing Eaton, Judge Warwick McKinnon said “this was a catalogue of serious offences against a child” “It was a peristant course of conduct and what is particularly serious is the video you took. It was quite obviously done for the sexual gratification” Eaton will be on the sex offenders register for life
