LEICESTER RAPISTS REDJON CENAJ AND MARIGLEN FERATAJ SENTENCED TO NINE YEARS EACH

In a disturbing case that has shocked the city of Leicester, two men have been sentenced to nine years in prison each after being found guilty of serious sexual offenses involving a young woman. The incident, which took place in October 2023, was brought to light through the diligent work of law enforcement and the use of CCTV footage that played a crucial role in securing convictions.

According to reports, the victim, a young woman, had been out in Leicester enjoying a night at a nightclub with her friends. During the course of the evening, she met a man, and at some point, she was separated from her friends. As the night drew to a close, the woman and the man, later identified as 22-year-old Redjon Cenaj, exited the nightclub together. Shortly afterward, they were joined by another man, 20-year-old Mariglen Ferataj. The trio then proceeded to get into a taxi, which took them to the victim’s residence.

It was at her flat that the assault occurred. The victim was subjected to a sexual assault, which was later confirmed through medical examinations and evidence collected by police. The following morning, the incident was reported to the authorities, allowing officers to act swiftly. Investigators obtained vital CCTV footage that captured the events of that night, providing clear visual evidence of the circumstances surrounding the assault.

The CCTV footage revealed disturbing details about the victim’s condition. It showed that she was visibly intoxicated and not fully aware of her surroundings. The footage depicted the two suspects assisting her, with Ferataj seen physically lifting the woman and helping her into the taxi after she had collapsed on the ground. This visual evidence was corroborated by a statement from the taxi driver, who confirmed that the victim appeared disoriented and was not fully alert during the journey.

Further forensic analysis revealed that the victim had drugs in her system at the time of the incident, adding to the gravity of the case. Both men were arrested a few days later. During police interviews, Ferataj claimed that the victim was aware of what was happening and had consented to the sexual activity. In contrast, Cenaj denied any sexual activity took place, denying involvement in the assault.

Following a trial at Leicester Crown Court last month, both defendants were found guilty of two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration. The court proceedings culminated in a sentencing hearing on Friday, 11 April. Justice was served as the court handed down a sentence of nine years in prison to each man. Redjon Cenaj, who resides on Luther Street in Leicester, and Mariglen Ferataj, of Beaufort Way in Leicester, will now serve their time behind bars, marking a significant moment in the pursuit of justice for the victim and the community.
