In a disturbing series of crimes that have sent shockwaves through the Leicester community, Mohammed Bajiwala, a 35-year-old man, was sentenced to a total of six years and four months in prison for abducting and sexually abusing an eight-year-old boy. The heinous incident took place on a Saturday afternoon in Highfields, Leicester, and was part of a pattern of predatory behavior that involved targeting vulnerable children on the streets.

According to court proceedings, Bajiwala, a married father of two, employed a deceptive tactic to lure his victims. He would approach young boys during the day, asking them to help him find 'lost' keys in his black Vauxhall Astra. This ruse was used to gain their trust and lure them into dangerous situations. The first victim, an eight-year-old boy, was walking along Mere Road, en route to meet his grandfather, at approximately 1:30 pm on May 3 of the current year.

Neil Bannister, the prosecutor, detailed the sequence of events: Bajiwala called the boy over and asked him to look for keys inside his car. The child, recalling the interior, described seeing a child's seat and a book of football stickers. When the boy attempted to leave, he found that the child locks on the vehicle were engaged, preventing his escape. Bajiwala then drove the car a short distance to a nearby pub's parking lot, specifically the Charny Inn on Spinney Hill Road.

While parked, Bajiwala exited the vehicle and unexpectedly encountered a man he knew, engaging in a brief conversation. During this time, the young victim tried to signal for help, but the man he knew left the scene. Bajiwala then instructed the boy to lie down on the back seat, where he attempted to remove the child's trousers without success. The defendant proceeded to simulate sexual activity with the clothed boy before ultimately dropping him off near Hartington Road, close to Spinney Hill Park. As a parting gesture, he handed the boy a book of football stickers, which served as a tangible reminder of the traumatic experience.
