DIRSON CHRISTOPHER JIMENEZ SANTANA CONVICTED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN LEICESTER CITY CENTRE

A man named Dirson Christopher Jimenez Santana has been found guilty of multiple sexual assault charges committed within Leicester city centre. The 29-year-old suspect, who resides on Nugent Street, off Tudor Road, was brought before Leicester Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual assault and one count of assault. The court proceedings revealed that Santana's criminal activities primarily took place during August of the previous year, with his victims being women in their twenties who were walking alone late at night.

One of the most serious incidents involved Santana approaching a woman on the canal towpath near St Augustine Road. According to police reports, he inappropriately touched her and then forcefully pushed her into the River Soar after she challenged his actions. This particular assault highlighted the dangerous nature of Santana’s offending pattern, which involved targeting vulnerable women in isolated areas.

Further details from law enforcement indicate that Santana’s offending spree was concentrated in August. On August 20, he approached a woman in Bath Lane and placed his hand down her trousers, an act of indecency that caused significant distress. Just a few days later, on August 23, he was reported to have indecently touched another woman in Southgates. The following week, on August 27, Santana groped a woman on Leicester’s High Street and also assaulted another woman in St Nicholas Circle by punching her in the face. These incidents collectively paint a disturbing picture of a man preying on women in various parts of Leicester city centre.

Following his conviction, Santana was sentenced to three years and six months in prison. Detective Sergeant Jenny Tattersall, who led the investigation, expressed her concern that there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward. She emphasized the profound psychological impact such assaults can have on victims, including increased anxiety and mental health issues, especially for women who are afraid to walk alone after dark. Sgt Tattersall urged any women who believe they may have been approached or assaulted by Santana to contact the police and report their experiences, highlighting the importance of community cooperation in addressing and preventing such crimes.
