PHILIP SMITH OF WORCESTER ADMITS TO MAKING HUNDREDS OF CHILD AND ANIMAL ABUSE IMAGES
A man identified as Philip Smith has pleaded guilty to multiple charges involving the creation and possession of indecent and extreme pornographic images.Smith appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court, where he admitted to four counts related to images of children and animals.
The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to producing 419 moving indecent images of children in Worcester between December 4, 2013, and June 23, 2018.
These images were classified as category A, the most severe type of indecent images.
In addition, he admitted to creating 223 moving indecent images of children and two still images at category B during the same period.
Furthermore, Smith admitted to making 98 moving indecent images of children and six still images at category C.
Smith also confessed to possessing nine extreme pornographic images on June 26, 2018.
These images depicted acts of intercourse with a dead or alive animal.
Prosecutor Shafquat Reaz stated during the hearing on December 17 that the starting point for the category A offence alone is one year in prison, and therefore, he requested that the case be transferred to Worcester Crown Court for sentencing.
Richard Hull, representing Smith of Portsmouth Road, Southampton, concurred with this request and offered no objections.
The chairman of the magistrates, David Shadwell, confirmed that the case was not suitable for summary trial and agreed with the transfer to Crown Court.
A pre-sentence report has been ordered to assist the judge in determining an appropriate sentence.
The case has been scheduled for appearance at Worcester Crown Court on December 17.
