MOTHER OF PETER WILLIAMS IN DROITWICH SPEAKS OUT AFTER OFFENDER'S REVELATION

In April 2007, the mother of Peter Williams, a convicted sex offender, publicly expressed her disapproval and stated that her son is no longer welcome to live at her home. Her remarks followed her shock upon learning from Mrs. Williams that Peter, 29 years old, had told Worcester magistrates he had been residing with her, her husband David, and their two children at their property in Droitwich.

Peter Williams, previously on the sex offenders register for having sexual contact with an underage girl, had been back in court this week. He was sentenced to jail for failing to inform police of his change of address after moving from a house on Albert Street, Droitwich, following a breakup in January.

During the court proceedings, Williams provided Mrs. Williams’s address as his residence, which deeply upset her. She stated, “He might be a pervert but he doesn’t live here. I don’t want him here. It’s hard for a mother to say that, but my home is sacred to me and I’ve got to think of my grandchildren.”

Mrs. Williams, who is employed by a taxi company, clarified that she had only spoken to her son three times since his release from prison, which was in December of the previous year, due to his theft convictions. She explained that Peter had been living with friends during this period.

“If I had known he was using this address for more than just receiving mail, I would have been the first to tell the police,” she said. “He’s done it so many times to us. We just give up. It looks really bad on me. All of the other children are really annoyed.”

Concerned about the family's reputation, Mrs. Williams expressed her worry that local neighbors might have read about her son’s case in the Worcester News and formed negative opinions. “Everybody around here knows what he is,” she said. “To me, it doesn’t matter whether people know or not as long as they leave my home alone. I don’t want them knocking my door down or anything like that.”

Regarding her son’s conviction for a sex offence, Mrs. Williams acknowledged, “It’s just something we have to live with.”

Peter Williams was only recognized to have moved from his registered address during his arrest on March 29, when police charged him with theft for stealing a jacket valued at £39.99. He was sentenced by magistrates to three months in prison for failing to inform authorities of his change of address, and an additional month for theft, with both sentences running concurrently.
