October 2010 Worcestershire sex offender failed to tell new partner and children about his past A SEX offender banned from living with his own child moved in with a new partner and her two young children without telling her about his conviction. Stuart Ward was sentenced to three years in custody in November 2004 for offences against a two-and-a-half-year-old girl. But in July this year he moved in with his new partner in Malvern and her children, aged six and one. Ward not only kept his sex crimes a secret from his new partner, but also failed to tell the relevant authorities about his new arrangements. Sarah Stock, prosecuting at Worcester Magistrates Court, said: “By virtue of that conviction, for an indefinite period, he is to give details to the police of any address where he stays for more than seven days in 12 months. “But he failed to register that address.” Mrs Stock said there was no suggestion that he had abused the two children. The court was told that Ward, aged 26, stayed with his new partner and her children every night between July 15, and September 6, when the police and county council children’s services became involved. At no point during that time was the woman made aware of his previous conviction. Ward, now of Charles Henry Road, Droitwich, admitted failing to notify of an address where he stayed. Sam Lamsdale, defending, said Ward had been living in Bridgewater in Somerset with an ex-partner who became pregnant with his child. “They notified children’s services, which insisted the couple live apart,” she said. “Ward was given supervised visits but these became less frequent due to a lack of manpower and he became extremely disheartened. “He found a relationship with a woman he had known for years. “He did spend every night with her but he failed to notify police because he felt he had done everything right in the past and it had got him nowhere. “He was in a low state.” Miss Lamsdale said Ward now worked away from home, but was working closely with his offender manager. Ward was comitted to Worcester Crown Court where he will be sentenced on Friday, October 29.
