February 2015 – Now living in Cobridge May 2005 Man caged for double rape of 12-year-old A man, who twice raped a 12 year-old girl while she was out trick or treating with a young friend last Hallowe’en, has been jailed for five years and four months.  Peter Wigley (23) picked the girl and her ten-year-old friend up in Lichfield city centre after a chance meeting while they were out trick or treating to raise money to buy alcohol, Stafford Crown Court heard.  Michael Conry, prosecuting, said: ‘She was under the influence of drink at a very early stage. Wigley picked them up and drove around with them and then took them back to his flat.  ‘At the flat, the girl was still drinking and it was clear she was very drunk. He took her into a room and indecently assaulted her and then made her perform a sex act.  ‘He then indecently assaulted her again. She was taken to hospital and when she was interviewed about the matter her memory was limited.  ‘When the defendant was arrested he agreed he picked them up and agreed that they had stopped at a shop to buy alcohol,’ Mr Conry said.  ‘Wigley said he did not know how old she was but thought she was about 15 or 16. He said in interview: ‘I did not want to have full blown sex with her because the ten-year-old girl was coming in.  ‘She wanted to have full sex with me but I refused’. He said had he known she was 12 he would not have bothered.’  Wigley of Lichfield, Staffordshire, pleaded guilty to two charges of oral rape and two of sexual assault. He was told to sign the sex offenders’ register for the rest his life and banned from working with children.  Sally Hancox, defending, said: ‘It is not the case where he forced the girl but he did coerce her.’  Judge Paul Glenn told Wigley: ‘I give you credit for your pleas of guilty but the fact is that your victim was only 12-years-old and very obviously drunk at the time.’  He added: ‘Medical reports represent you as a high risk of committing further offences. I accept this was a chance meeting and you decided to take advantage of it
