PETER NICOLLE FROM GUERNSEY ADMITS TO EIGHT SEX OFFENCES AGAINST UNDER-16 GIRL

In a recent court hearing held in Guernsey, Peter Lloyd Ray Nicolle, aged 50, pleaded guilty to a series of serious sexual offences committed against a girl under the age of 16. The charges, which encompass a total of eight separate counts, include four instances of gross indecency and four counts of indecent assault. These offences reportedly occurred in the year 2010, and the case has garnered significant attention due to the nature of the allegations and the defendant's admission of guilt.

Peter Nicolle appeared before the Royal Court to face these charges. Prior to this, he made an initial appearance in the Magistrate’s Court on 5 March, during which he stated that he was of no fixed address at the time. Following this preliminary hearing, the case was transferred to the Royal Court on 2 April for further proceedings. The court proceedings revealed that the prosecution might require a Newton hearing—a legal process used when a defendant admits to committing an offence but disputes some of the evidence presented by the prosecution that could influence the sentencing decision.

Advocate Rory Calderwood, representing the prosecution, indicated that such a hearing might be necessary to clarify the facts and determine the appropriate sentence. The presiding judge, Russell Finch, decided to adjourn the case until 10 May, providing both the prosecution and the defence with additional time to negotiate and potentially reach an agreement regarding the case's resolution. During this hearing, there was no application for bail, and Nicolle was remanded in custody pending further proceedings.

The case continues to develop as authorities and legal representatives prepare for the upcoming court date, with the serious nature of the offences underscoring the importance of justice and the protection of vulnerable minors in Guernsey.
