August 2008 Pervert swapped pictures of children on the internet A man downloaded hundreds of indecent images of children and swapped them with other perverts. Peter Millard spent hours on the internet collecting a huge haul of child sexual abuse images Millard was caught when police descended on the home of one of his friends and came across a sick image of a child being abused which was traced to Millard’s home computer. Officers raided his home on March 12, last year and seized his computers. When the 55-year-old was arrested Millard said: ‘I know what this is about – I was looking at some pictures on the internet last night.’ Extensive examinations of his computers revealed a total of 249 indecent images of children. It also showed that Millard had been swapping pictures with other perverts over the internet. Millard of Waterlooville admitted 21 counts of possessing indecent pictures of children, two counts of making indecent pictures of children and six counts of distributing indecent images of children. At Portsmouth Crown Court Millard was spared an immediate prison sentence. Instead he was given a 12-month prison sentence suspended for two years. He must attend the Thames Valley Sex Offender’s programme and will be supervised in the community by the probation service for the next two years. Millard has also been disqualified from working with children and will remain on the sex offender’s register for 10 years.
