PETER MCFARLANE SENTENCED IN SOUTHAMPTON FOR SEX OFFENCES AGAINST TEENAGER
In August 2017, Peter McFarlane, a 49-year-old man from Bitterne, was found guilty of numerous sexual offences involving a 16-year-old girl.
Over a two-year period, McFarlane subjected the teenager to a series of horrifying acts, including filming an indecent act on a webcam and streaming the footage live.
Prosecutor Daniel Sawyer told Southampton Crown Court that the victim described her life as being forever altered by the ordeal, stating, "Her life would never be the same." A victim impact statement read aloud in court revealed her deep emotional scars: "How will I be able to forget?
I cannot and I have not...
I cannot trust anyone anymore." The statement further expressed her struggle, saying, "It is like living in a nightmare over and over but I’m a survivor." Judge Peter Henry detailed some of the incidents, including one where an act was performed while “there was an audience at the other end of a webcam.” He also mentioned that McFarlane manipulated the victim into going on a holiday before committing an act involving another woman.
McFarlane, who lives on April Close in Bitterne, pleaded guilty to four charges of sexual activity with a child.
He was sentenced to five years in prison, with a lifelong notification requirement related to sex offences.
Additionally, a restraining order was imposed to prevent him from contacting the victim, and he was placed on the sex offenders register for life.
