Now aged 59 April 2010 Paedophile sentenced for raping young girls  A paedophile has been sentenced after raping two young girls on multiple occasions Peter Lloyd, 51 of Wem in Shropshire appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court  where he was found guilty of: Rape of a child under 13 years old – 15 years concurrent Two counts rape – 15 years concurrent Attempted rape – 15 years concurrent Four counts of indecent assault – 5 years concurrent  Two counts of sexual assault of a female child aged under 13 – 5 years concurrent Two counts of indecency with a child – 18 months concurrent Indecent assault – 12 months concurrent Although Lloyd was sentenced to a total of 63 years, the majority of his sentence was allowed to run concurrent. Therefore a total sentence of 15 years imprisonment was imposed The court was told that depraved Lloyd had abused two young girls over a number of years The first victim was aged just eight when the abuse began and lasted over a five year period between 1998-2003 The second victim was aged nine when Lloyd first targeted her for sex. The abuse continued for three years between 2002-2005 Each girl was initially sexually abused but the attacks worsened and many rapes later took place, which had a detrimental and emotionally damaging affect on both girls throughout their teenage years and leading into their adult lives  In a victim impact statement given to court, the victims described Lloyd as an abusive and manipulative bully who terrified the girls into silence.  Lloyd was told that he must register as a sex offender for life.  He was also banned from any unsupervised access or contact with any child aged under 16.
