WAYNE FORD FROM WEM SENTENCED FOR CHILD INDECENT IMAGE DISTRIBUTION IN TELFORD

Wayne Ford, a man who previously resided on New Street in Wem, has been handed a prison sentence after admitting to serious charges related to the online distribution of indecent images involving children. The court proceedings revealed that Ford, aged 36, pleaded guilty on May 11 to multiple offenses, including the possession and dissemination of such illicit images, as well as the publication of obscene material. These criminal activities took place over a period stretching from September 2020 through April 2021, highlighting a sustained period of offending.

Following the guilty plea, Ford was sentenced on June 29 by Telford Magistrates’ Court. The court imposed a custodial sentence of three years, reflecting the gravity of his crimes. In addition to his time behind bars, Ford was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, a legal measure intended to mitigate the risk he may pose to the public once he is released from prison. This order aims to restrict his activities and prevent further harm.

Detective Inspector Matt McNelis of West Mercia Police described the nature of Ford’s crimes as 'vile,' emphasizing that the images involved children being raped and tortured. The police have commended the diligent efforts of the West Mercia Police Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team, whose dedicated work was instrumental in bringing Ford to justice. Authorities continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and to report any concerns related to child sexual abuse.
