PETER CHRISTIE STOCKPORT BINMAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING TEENAGE GIRL IN BLACKPOOL
In February 2005, a disturbing case involving a 56-year-old refuse collection worker from Stockport culminated in a prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to serious sexual offences against a teenage girl. Peter Christie, the accused, faced charges that included engaging in sexual activity with a minor, a crime that has shocked the local community and raised concerns about safeguarding vulnerable youths.According to court records, Christie admitted to two counts of sexual activity with a child, a charge that underscores the gravity of his actions. The case took a further disturbing turn when it was revealed that Christie, along with his co-defendant Donald Sumner, had abducted the young girl in Blackpool. The abduction was reportedly orchestrated with the girl being taken from Blackpool to Christie’s residence on Parsonage Road in Stockport.
Evidence presented in court indicated that a relative of the girl had been following her and subsequently alerted police. The relative’s vigilance proved crucial, as it led to police locating the girl and Christie at his flat. When officers arrived, they found the pair in the process of getting dressed, suggesting that the abduction and subsequent events had been recent.
In sentencing, Peter Christie was handed a four-year prison term. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, a measure intended to monitor and prevent future offences. The court’s decision reflects the seriousness with which such crimes are treated, especially those involving minors.
Donald Sumner, aged 58 and residing on Wellington Road North in Stockport, was also implicated in the case. He was convicted of his role in the abduction and received a two-year prison sentence. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat sexual crimes and protect young individuals from exploitation and harm in the Stockport area and beyond.
