In a significant case that highlights issues of honesty and professional conduct within the medical community, Paul Hewish, a 53-year-old general practitioner originally from Goole, East Yorkshire, has been formally removed from the medical register following serious misconduct. Hewish's criminal record dates back to August 2002, when he was convicted of possessing 30 indecent images involving young girls. The images had been downloaded over a span of three years, and the police investigation was initiated after authorities raided his residence in York in March 2000. During the raid, officers uncovered the illicit material, which led to his conviction. It was later revealed that Hewish was a registered sex offender, a fact he failed to disclose when applying for subsequent employment opportunities.
