PAUL ANGUS SENTENCED IN DUNDEE FOR DECADES OF SEXUAL OFFENCES INVOLVING CHILDREN
A 57-year-old man named Paul Angus has been handed a prison sentence after being found guilty of a series of serious sexual offences spanning over two decades in Dundee.The court proceedings revealed that Angus was responsible for a total of 15 criminal charges, which included three counts of rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, and acts of indecency. The judge overseeing the case ordered that Angus must serve a minimum of five and a half years behind bars before he becomes eligible for parole. Additionally, the court mandated that he will remain under supervision and be registered as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
Throughout the trial, Angus maintained his innocence, claiming that the allegations against him were part of a conspiracy by his accusers. However, evidence presented in court detailed a disturbing pattern of abuse involving eight young girls aged between 8 and 16, with incidents occurring at various locations across Dundee from December 1988 to May 2010.
It was established that in at least three cases, victims were given alcohol before being coerced into performing sexual acts. The evidence also showed that Angus attempted to obstruct justice by messaging one of the victims, trying to persuade her not to report the abuse to authorities.
The court condemned Angus’s actions, describing them as a gross exploitation of vulnerable children for his own depraved purposes. Lord Burns, presiding over the case, labeled his emotional blackmail as 'truly despicable.' The judge emphasized that Angus displayed no remorse or understanding of the harm he caused, warning that he would only be released when authorities determine he no longer poses a threat to the public.
In his sentencing remarks, the judge highlighted the severity of Angus’s grooming behavior and his blatant disregard for the suffering of his victims, underscoring the importance of lifelong monitoring and registration to protect others from potential harm.
