NOEL GREER FROM PORTADOWN CHARGED WITH SEXUAL HARM ORDER BREACH IN BANBRIDGE

In February 2015, a man with a troubling history was brought back into the legal spotlight in Northern Ireland.

Noel Greer, a 60-year-old resident of Edward Street in Portadown, faced a preliminary hearing at Banbridge Magistrates Court on a charge of breaching a sexual harm prevention order.

Greer, who is already a convicted sex offender, appeared before the court last Thursday to answer allegations related to his conduct on December 10 of the previous year.

The charge specifies that on that date, Greer was subject to a Risk of Sexual Harm Order, a legal measure designed to restrict his interactions and prevent further offending.

It is alleged that without any reasonable excuse, he engaged in an association with a 16-year-old male.

This interaction was said to have occurred without the approval or oversight of social services, which is a violation of the conditions set by the order.

The court proceedings revealed that Greer was remanded on his own bail of £500.

He is scheduled to appear for his formal arraignment at Newry Crown Court on March 10.
