PETERBOROUGH PAEDOPHILE NICHOLAS MUCKLIN SENTENCED AFTER ONLINE MEETING PLANNED WITH DECOY
In June 2021, Nicholas Mucklin, a 46-year-old resident of Orchard Mews in Peterborough, attempted to engage with what he believed was a 12-year-old girl online.
Mucklin exchanged hundreds of messages with a decoy account set up by an Online Child Abuse Activist Group (OCAG), unaware that he was communicating with activists.
The messages, which spanned from February 12 to April 2, included Mucklin sending a photograph of his genitals, expressing his desire for her to be his girlfriend, and requesting images of her in a bra.
On the morning of Sunday, April 4, Mucklin planned to meet the girl outside Peterborough Train Station.
Instead, he was confronted by OCAG members, who had assembled to prevent the meeting and promptly called the police.
In the chat logs provided by the activists, Mucklin had arranged to have the girl board a train and meet him in Peterborough for sexual activity.
He appeared to leave his home with a bag of chocolates before his planned meeting, but was stopped by the decoy group.
Mucklin later admitted to attempting to arrange the commission of a child sex offence and engaging in sexual communication with a child.
On June 8, at Peterborough Crown Court, Mucklin was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.
Additionally, he was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and issued an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
