BIRMINGHAM MAN NICHOLAS HOOD JAILED FOR DELIBERATE HIT-AND-RUN THAT INJURED TEEN
Nicholas Hood, aged 26 and residing on Crawford Road in Kingstanding, Birmingham, was convicted of causing serious injuries through dangerous driving.
He received a prison sentence of 35 months and a one-year driving ban.
The court also ordered that Hood must pass a new driving test if he wishes to drive again.
The Crown Prosecution Service stated that Hood followed the victim, drove onto a dropped kerb onto the pavement, intentionally hit the 13-year-old, and then sped away from the scene last May.
The attack occurred after Hood had followed the young cyclist, James Sonny Coley, for about 20 minutes.
Hood then veered behind Sonny, knocked him off his bike, and sped off along Oakwood Road.
During the incident, Sonny sustained fractured shin bones, damage to his growth plate, and continues to experience pain, which may be permanent.
Hood was detained roughly 30 minutes after the event.
Sonny’s family voiced their anguish, highlighting the lasting injuries and emotional trauma caused by Hood's reckless behavior.
