BIRMINGHAM TEACHER WHO SEXUALLY ASSAULTED TWO BOYS IS JAILED
A teacher from Birmingham, who sexually abused two children while working as a private tutor, is now incarcerated.During an investigation by West Midlands Police, it was uncovered that Adam Sherwood, aged 57, exploited his position of trust while tutoring at his residence in Moseley.
He provided weekly lessons in English and mathematics to a boy, during which he inappropriately touched the child over an extended period until the boy informed his parents.
When questioned and arrested, Sherwood denied the abuse, claiming that any touching was not sexual but was intended to keep the boy still during lessons.
The incidents took place in 2019 and 2023.
In March, after a trial, Sherwood was convicted of four counts of sexual touching of a boy under 13.
He appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on June 19 for sentencing and was sentenced to two years and six months in prison.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
DC Sarah Toye, from the Complex Child Abuse Investigation team, stated: “Sherwood was in a position of trust which he took full advantage of to gain access to assault his victims.
We are pleased he is now behind bars where he can reflect on his actions.
I would like to also praise the two boys who showed such bravery throughout the investigation and court process where both attended to give evidence.”
