Neil Thompson

Cheadle Sexual Abuser

September 2015 Pervert jailed after police find indecent images of children BRITISH ex-pat Neil Thompson has been jailed after downloading scores of indecent images of children onto his laptops and mobile phone. The 41-year-old had been living in Benidorm when he returned to his Cheadle home and was arrested by police. He initially denied the offences, but later admitted he had downloaded the images and then deleted them. He told police he used sexual terms to search which he knew would lead to child abuse images. Now Thompson – who has a previous conviction for a similar offence in Spain – has been jailed for 10 months and placed on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years. Prosecutor Timothy Sapwell told Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court that police searched Thompson’s Cheadle property on June 25 last year. They seized two laptops and a mobile phone which were analysed. In total, police found 16 images at category A – the most serious; 20 at category B; and 45 at category C. Cleaning software was found on one of the laptops. Four images, one at category B and three at category C, were found on the phone. In his first interview, Thompson denied any images world be found. But once they were discovered, he admitted he had downloaded them. Thompson, of Avenida Derramador, Benidorm, pleaded guilty to 10 charges of making indecent photographs of a child and two offences of possessing indecent images of a child. The court heard in April 2013 he received a one-year jail sentence, suspended for three years, in Benidorm for possessing, showing or distributing indecent photographs of a child. Hamish Noble, mitigating, referred to Thompson as an ‘isolated’ individual. He said the defendant has a drink problem and was unable to board a plane back to England this month as he was so drunk. Mr Noble added: “He describes his disgust at himself.” Jailing Thompson, Judge Paul Glenn said: “You admitted viewing and deleting the images and that you had sought out such images. You plainly have an attraction to young boys. You were downloading and accessing images for a couple of months. “People like you encourage those who perpetrate such vile abuse of children. These are real children being abused.” The judge also made Thompson the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years and barred him from a range of activities involving children and vulnerable adults.
