NATHAN BRYANT OF LERWICKS BURNSIDE SENTENCE DEFERRED OVER CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN SHETLAND
A 29-year-old man from Lerwicks Burnside, Nathan Bryant, has had his sentencing deferred after admitting to taking or allowing the taking of indecent photographs of children at his residence between June 2014 and September 2020.Bryant recorded a seven-minute video using screen recording software, which revealed him accessing numerous images and videos of child abuse.
This footage, classified as category A, displayed penetrative sexual activity involving minors.
Authorities discovered additional images: one category B image showing non-penetrative activity, and several category C images of children in erotic poses.
Some of the victims appeared to be as young as one or two years old, the prosecutor Duncan Mackenzie stated.
He emphasized that Bryant was actively seeking out such material, contrary to his initial explanation that he had only granted others remote access to his computer and claimed he had no interest in viewing such content.
When detained, Bryant told police he had accessed certain websites unintentionally and that his device had automated downloads of these images.
Solicitor Tommy Allan acknowledged that Bryant was aware of the seriousness of his guilty plea.
Sheriff Ian Cruickshank granted a Crown motion for the seizure of Bryant's devices and continued his bail while reports are prepared.
The sheriff also ordered Bryant to comply with notification obligations under sexual offences legislation and postponed his sentencing until March 7.
