MUQTADER SYED FROM NORTHAMPTON JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL NEAR KETTERING ROAD
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Northampton community, Muqtader Syed, a 31-year-old man residing on Wellingborough Road, was sentenced to prison after committing a serious sexual assault on a young girl in Northampton town centre. The incident occurred earlier this year and has raised significant concerns about safety and the vulnerability of minors in public spaces.According to court proceedings at Northampton Crown Court, the victim was described as a girl who appeared notably young for her age, standing less than five feet tall. She had been attending a friend’s barbecue in Northampton and was walking home alone after initially leaving with her friends. As her friends diverged on their way home, the girl found herself walking alone along the streets of Northampton.
It was during this solitary walk that Syed began to follow her. Initially, he engaged her in conversation, attempting to lure her back to his flat. His approach was seemingly friendly at first, but it quickly took a sinister turn when he tried to kiss her. The girl, understandably distressed, pushed him away. Despite her resistance, Syed’s behavior escalated when he suddenly grabbed her from behind, leading to a sexual assault near Kettering Road.
After the assault, the girl was overwhelmed with emotion, described as being in “floods of tears” as she continued her journey. She eventually reached Wellingborough Road, where she encountered a police officer. Syed approached the officer and expressed concern for the girl’s welfare, claiming he was worried about her. This interaction, however, was viewed by the court as a calculated attempt by Syed to feign concern and cover up his actions.
Judge Rupert Mayo, presiding over the case, sentenced Syed to four and a half years in prison. The judge was unequivocal in his judgment, dismissing any notion that Syed’s actions were motivated by genuine concern. Instead, he described Syed’s behavior as a facade, emphasizing that his primary intent was to commit the assault. The judge highlighted the gravity of the crime, stating, “This is the worst nightmare for any child and any parent who trusts their child to come home safely from an evening out.”
Muqtader Syed, who was born in India and has been living in the UK since 2005, faces the prospect of deportation following his release from prison. The case has sparked widespread discussions about child safety, the importance of vigilance in public spaces, and the need for stringent measures to protect vulnerable minors from predatory individuals.
