FOUR MEN CONVICTED OF CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND ABUSE
Four men have been found guilty of multiple charges related to the sexual abuse and exploitation of a young girl in Bradford during the early 2000s.The victim, referred to as Anna (a pseudonym), was between 13 and 15 years old at the time of the incidents, which occurred between 2002 and 2004.
An inquiry was initiated in 2019 after Anna disclosed the abuse to authorities.
These convictions are part of a broader case that has already seen nine men sentenced to a combined total of 104 years in prison.
The men convicted on 22 July, who are awaiting their sentencing, include: • Sohail Hussain, aged 40 from Bradford, who identifies as Asian Pakistani, was convicted of rape and indecent assault.
• Khurram Iqbal, aged 39 from Bradford, also Asian Pakistani, received convictions for indecent assault.
• Mohammed Sufyan Suleman, aged 45, of Bradford, was found guilty of two counts of indecent assault.
• Mohammed Baig, aged 47 from Bradford, also of Asian Pakistani descent, was convicted of three counts of rape and two counts of indecent assault.
All of these individuals are scheduled for sentencing at a later date.
In her own words, Anna expressed the profound impact of the abuse: "I lost critical years of my education; my basic rights were stripped from me, and my future was stolen.
The process of investigation and trial has been extremely traumatic.
The victory in court does not bring me happiness; instead, it reminds me of the pain I felt as a girl when these men entered my life." Detective Chief Inspector Vicky Greenbank from Bradford District Police commented: "These convictions mark the conclusion of a lengthy and difficult process for Anna.
She has shown remarkable courage and resilience throughout.
While these verdicts cannot restore her childhood, I hope it provides some reassurance that these men are now incarcerated and pose no further threat.
This case has been complex and has spanned many years, resulting in the conviction of 13 men for these heinous crimes.
The perpetrators exploited her for their own sexual pleasure.
Without Anna’s bravery in reporting the abuse, these offenders might still be free.
