MOHAMMED MIAN FROM OLDHAM SENTENCED FOR MASSIVE CHILD ABUSE IMAGE COLLECTION

In a disturbing case uncovered in Oldham, police executed a search warrant at the residence of Mohammed Miah, revealing a horrifying collection of over 100,000 indecent images depicting child abuse.

The investigation uncovered a vast and disturbing catalogue, with experts only able to analyze a small portion of the material due to constraints related to time and financial resources.

Among the images recovered, at least 184 were classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of abuse, and involved young girls aged between six and thirteen years old.

In addition to the child abuse images, authorities found three videos and pictures categorized as extreme pornography involving animals, further highlighting the disturbing nature of the material stored on Miah’s computer equipment.

The 37-year-old defendant, Mohammed Miah, from Park Street in Oldham, admitted to downloading this illicit content.

He faced multiple charges, including three counts of making indecent images of children and one count of possessing extreme pornographic material.

During the court proceedings at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court, Miah expressed that he had not believed he would be caught and had attempted to conceal his activities by installing a cleaner program designed to delete incriminating files from his system.

Despite his efforts, law enforcement uncovered the material, leading to his arrest and subsequent prosecution.

Judge Jeffrey Lewis addressed Miah directly during sentencing, stating, “Right-thinking people would be disgusted and revolted by images of this sort, and it is incomprehensible how anyone could subject a child to this sort of behaviour.” The judge acknowledged Miah’s apparent remorse and his efforts to seek help, noting that Miah had engaged in counseling and expressed regret for his actions.

However, Judge Lewis also emphasized the gravity of the offense, considering the sheer volume and severity of the images involved.

He reflected on whether to impose a custodial sentence or show leniency, ultimately deciding on a suspended sentence.

Miah was sentenced to 18 months in prison on each count, with the sentences to run concurrently, but the judge indicated that these could be suspended for 18 months, given the circumstances.

Furthermore, Miah was ordered to participate in a 50-hour rehabilitation program aimed at addressing his offending behavior.

He was also placed under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which imposes restrictions to prevent future offenses.

The court heard that Miah’s wife was present during the hearing, providing moral support.

Defense lawyer Jon Gregg highlighted that Miah had not hidden his actions and had made full confessions to his family and at his local mosque.

Gregg also noted that Miah was suffering from a cancerous growth in one of his arms and had accepted the wrongfulness of his conduct, promising to change.

Judge Lewis concluded by condemning the market for such material, stating, “People like you provide a market for those who produce material like this.

You can view it free, but the people who pay the price are the young children who are victims.” The case underscores the ongoing battle against online child exploitation and the importance of strict legal action to protect vulnerable victims.
