MAN ADMITS CAMPAIGN OF ABUSE AGAINST WOMAN

A man has admitted to committing serious sexual offenses, including the rape, strangulation, and suffocation of a woman in Staffordshire.

Miles Phillips, aged 41 and residing in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, pleaded guilty at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Monday, 8 June, to four charges: rape, intentional strangulation, intentional suffocation, and engaging in controlling and coercive behavior.

The incidents occurred over the period from 2023 to 2025.

Staffordshire Police’s Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Unit (RASSO) dedicated significant effort to supporting the victim and gathering evidence necessary to bring charges against Phillips.

He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled for sentencing at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 31 July.
