April 2000 ‘Pathetic old man’ jailed for sex abuse A FORMER prisoner, who served time for a string of Post Office and shop hold-ups in the 1980s, is back behind bars as a self-confessed child sex abuser. Michael ”Mickey” Marron, 62, was jailed for three years at Newry Crown Court yesterday. And his name was placed on the RUC’s sex offenders’ register for an indefinite period. Judge Randal McKay also ordered him to undertake a year’s probation when released from prison. Marron, of Londa Crescent, Newry, had pleaded guilty to having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl last June.
